When you can only see half of the things you typed. I pushed on through though!

God, do I hate WebAssign. I hope MatLab is easier to work with...
But how could you only see half the stuff? Were you doing it from a tablet or something, or was it just glitching?

It was just acting weird, it has never done that before. I have heard Matlab is better but still annoying as all hell.

Ewwwww, Calc III

So far it hasn't been so bad. Don't know about later lessons though.

I think I can handle the MatLab coding - I just don't like "three tries and no indication of how you did it wrong" aspect of how teachers use WebAssign here, especially when Pearson MasteringPhysics can tell you where you may have gone wrong.

It's not bad when you're taking it, but I'm not even sure how I'd do the ones you have here.

For math we get 100 tries, for Physics it is only 3. Which is stupid because sometimes it isn't a problem in your work but rather they way you wrote something. I was robbed 2 points on my homework because of how I wrote something. . . bullshit!

It is just basically derivatives but for vectors. Only problem is that all the numbers get confusing, the math isn't bad though.

Getting your calc homework right even when it kinja crops itself. You truly are living up to your stereotype.

I had a good lol from your comment.

I'm glad, a lot of people would have gone on a: "YOU'RE A TERRIBLE RACIST PERSON" rant. Those get annoying.
![]() 09/05/2013 at 22:36 |

Those people are usually assholes and don't know how to take a joke. I also like to say that when I don't like someone and they make a joke about Indians. . . makes them feel reeeeeeaaaall awkward.

Oh, I know that power, I'm part jew. It can be fun to make people feel absolutely terrible about themselves with a serious look on my face and then follow it up with a, "nah I'm just fucking with you." (pat them on the shoulder) "But, seriously." (back to the straight face)

Web assign is from the devil

This sounds very strangely similar to what I do. Damn minorities always acting the same and stuff.

The devil is too kind to make webassign.

The instructors I've had that use MasteringPhysics allow 6 tries that dock 3% of a question's weight each time, but MP can offer a hint as to where you went wrong with a common error. My Physics instructor this semester allows the question's Hint (which has a bonus of +2% of the question's weight for not using) as well. I much prefer that to how the Math department uses WebAssign.

I would be really annoyed about losing those point, but I bet you learn more through that process than Webassign. The problem with webassign is, is that the practice problems don't show you step by steps on how to solve it. . . so annoying trying to figure out what goes where.
![]() 09/05/2013 at 23:01 |

Well, my previous instructor had assignments that were 20.00 points in total, so losing .15 points at the maximum on 1-point questions and .30 on 2-point questions isn't as bad as it could be if I can mitigate my losses by having a decent initial grasp of the material and collaborating with others now and then.

I guess it doesn't seem so bad afterall. . . man do I hate my teachers.

Hey, I'd kill for 100 tries on WebAssign.
![]() 09/05/2013 at 23:25 |

Hahaha. But hey, Mathlab can be a bitch sometimes too.
![]() 09/06/2013 at 00:42 |

Matlab can suck it too. Although, admittedly, most of my problems stemmed from out TA never teaching us anything about it.
![]() 09/06/2013 at 02:09 |

Well, I have at least a little experience with typing things in brackets, and I also got a guide to help me learn how to work MatLab. My TA seems competent as well. There'll be some tough assignments, but I'll try to keep an open mind.

Sorry thats my fault. I was test mule for Webassign at NC State back in 99-01. Rather than complain, I just gave up.

Remember that when you're sorting through 1000 or so lines of math code at 1 in the morning and realize none of it works because it doesn't like the placement of your ) at line 348. It its really sweet when everything works out though.
